Your face reflects not only your age but also your character. As we get older our skin gets thinner and loses it's elasticity, therefore everytime we laugh, frown or smile it's going to leave its mark on your face.

If your facial lines bother you then it's time to get in front of the mirror and start pulling funny faces at yourself! Doing facial exercises are very effective and only take a few minutes a day to do.

Here are three facial exercises to get you started:

#1 To Firm The Mouth

a) Form the letter 'O' with your lips and then press the muscles outwards. Repeat and aim for 50. You have done this right if you feel your mouth aching afterwards.

b) This is great for preventing lines. Put the forefingers at the corner of the mouth and stretch the mouth as wide as possible, relax and repeat. Keeping the fingers where they are try and pull the mouth shut forcing the muscles to work. Hold for a count of six, relax and repeat.

#2 For The Under Eye Area

a) This diminishes puffiness under the eye. Keeping the eyes closed, contract the muscles by squeezing hard. Hold the muscles taut for a few seconds.

b) For drooping eyelids, put your middle finger into the corner of your eyes when open. As you gently squeeze the eye shut, you can feel the muscle there working away.

#3 For The Forehead

For horizontal lines place the index, middle and ring fingers vertically across your forehead with the finger tips facing in the centre of the forehead (index finger closest to the hair line). Now apply pressure with all your fingers and then move them all outwards towards the temple, press in short bursts and working the whole area right up to the temples. Repeat this sequence twenty times.

To combat further lines on your forehead, try not to raise your eyebrows or frown and wear sunglasses on sunny days and when driving.

Regarding The Sun

Apart from smoking, the sun is the biggest culprit when it comes to aging and wrinkles. You do need your skin to be exposed to the sun for a limited time so you can get your dose of Vitamin D, however too much exposure to the sun can be very harmful on your skin.

Allowing your skin constant exposure to the sun will stimulate free radicals to form and grow within your skin cells. Free radicals disrupt and destroy skin cells leaving you with aging, wrinkled skin.

Therefore, it is recommended to wear a good sun protection cream when outside in the sun for any amount of time which will protect your skin cells from free radical rampage.
